More» 僕は建築科の学生であったため、西洋建築の歴史を勉強した際に、このノートルダム大聖堂のことは当然勉強していた。しかし、その本物を見たのは先の旅行が初めてだった。イタリアのメヂチ像同様、学生時代の苦労を思い出した瞬間だった。
そういえば、元建築学生として、最近思うことがもう一つある。建築科黒川紀章氏の東京都知事への立候補報道である。僕はこれまでこのブログでは、プライベートな事柄や、政治信条については極力その言及を避けてきた。これは芸術家のはしくれとして、当然のスタンスだと思うからである。それでもあえて言わせて頂くと、今回の一件は、建築を勉強したものにとっては、衝撃的なことで、例えるなら、ジョルジオ・アルマーニが、イタリア首相になるようなものだ。これが、フェラーリのルカ・ディ・モンテツェーモロだったらみなさんも納得できるだろう？自分がもしイタリア人だったらそう思う。しかし、僕は東京都民。今回の件、政治と都政に対して黒川氏なりの問題提起という点は僭越ながら大変評価するが、本気で都政を担うというのであれば、建築家という芸術家業を廃業するくらいの姿勢は見せて欲しいと思う。一流の芸術家は一流のビジネスマンであることは事実。しかし、芸術家のカリスマ性を利用して政治力を発揮することは、水面下では今までにもあったとしても、市民の代表としては問題だと思うからである。
